Climathon is a city-based programme that offers a path to action and interaction. It is an opportunity for citizens to co-create ideas that address local climate challenges.  Its intent is to raise climate awareness, disrupt the status quo, and rethink the places we live in and the future we want as citizens. 

Climathon is an international movement, orchestrated by EIT Climate-KIC and powered by Circular Influence to engage cities and citizens in climate action, where a diverse group of participants ranging from policymakers to entrepreneurs, youth to business leaders, hackers to academics, and students to professionals, come together to collaborate on forward-thinking ideas. 

The next Climathon will take place on 29-30 October 2022 in a hybrid format meaning in person and virtual event, plus Young Innovators will have the possibility to also participate in the Climate Week with their ideas at the Young Climathon that will take place on 26th October 2022. This Young Climathon is aimed at youth networks and secondary schoolchildren.

Circular Influence is a Community Knowledge and Innovation Platform that works to accelerate the transition to a carbon-free circular economy, based on systemic thinking and actions and applying the stages of Design Thinking with our programs to achieve a positive and sustainable global impact, synergies between Latin America and Europe.

Circular Influence is hosting the program for 35 cities in Argentina and Uruguay. We have been working together with Climathon and EIT Climate-KIC to ideate climate solutions since 2020.

Joining the Climathon is a unique experience to:

• Gain an in-depth understanding of the climate challenges faced by your city
• Ideate about the local challenges and collaborate on ideas to solve them
• Meet a like-minded and diverse community of experts and changemakers
• Empower and showcase your local community across the globe
• Play an active role in the global climate change movement

At the core of the Climathon programme is an ideathon, this is the main event, where you will get together digitally or in-person with fellow citizens and local stakeholders to come up with ideas to your cities' climate challenges.

This ideathon lasts 2 days. You can join in group or be grouped. From morning to night, the teams will be coached and will receive instructions on how to put together a business project to solve one of this year's challenges. You choose the challenge and also you can apply with an idea.

A Warm-Up meeting will be held at October 21 to inform the participants about this year's event.

Anyone can apply to be a participant. Your city might have chosen specific target groups (eg: students, entrepreneurs, etc) – this information will be available on the city page.
