The findings of scientific research continue to suggest that to avoid the climate crisis we require a large-scale shift in social behaviour, policy-making, business models as well as technology. Due to the interconnectedness of our world, such a transformation must happen in all sectors, industries and other areas of human activity.
In its 2018 special report, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) calls for “rapid and far-reaching transitions in energy, land, urban and infrastructure (including transport and buildings), and industrial systems.”
The good news is that many of the means to achieve the necessary transformation already exist.
Each of the following sectors has displayed a great capacity for the emergence and development of climate solutions, proving a change is possible now.
