Our Nominees at the 2021 Global Grand Final
Autumn tends to be Circular Influence’s busiest time of the year with many events, programmes, seminars and preparations to be done. Nonetheless, we would like to pause for a second to bring attention to our star teams from the 2021 Climate Launchpad.
Already in our second edition, we have extended this programme to 2 new countries and it seems that our hard work has paid off. We have 7 teams pitching at the 2021 Global Grand Final from all the 4 countries that we work with.
For Italy we will be looking out for Bare Native, entering under the theme Food Systems. Their startup focuses on a bioremediation strategy, which eliminates contaminants in freshwater and in effect prevents eutrophication. Our second Italian team is EcoDigInsect, which will compete under the theme The Next Big Thing. EcoDigInsect is focused on insect farming and their wish is to develop a decentralized, and reproducible network of insect farming modules.
From Argentina, we also nominated 2 teams: EcoPower (Sustainable Mobility) and Genesis Hydrokinetic (Clean Energy). The entrepreneurs behind EcoPower have been developing their technology since 2017 and now they come to present their zero-emission 4x4 off-road vehicles on a global stage. Genesis Hydrokinetic also reduce the carbon footprint but in a different way, by designing turbines that use hydropower without modifying watercourses or affecting aquatic life.
Thirdly, we will listen to 2 Uruguayan teams both tackling the theme of Circular Economies. The first, Trace Surfer, implements smart labels on physical objects such as clothes, furniture or accessories to raise customer awareness about the life cycle of these products. Vacaca is our second contestant from Uruguay. Vacaca plans to extract cellulose pulp from manure to be used in various ways such as paper, textiles and plastic.
Our last nominee comes from Peru and competes under the Adaptation & Resilience theme. Their name is Viajero Market and they are assembling an app that aims to close the technology gap by connecting Amazonian entrepreneurs directly to potential customers that are looking for simpler and quicker access to their market.
All of these 7 teams will present their pitches at the end of October at the 2021 Climate Launchpad Global Grand Final. Please go to our Events section to get yourself signed up for the finale of this competition.
