Packomer

Packomer is an initiative to stop the use of single-use plastic cutlery with edible spoons for ice cream.

Although the movements against single-use plastic have gained momentum in many countries, astounding quantities of this polluting material remains unrecycled. The outcome is that we find billions of tons of microplastics in the oceans, rivers, landfills, etc. The toxicity of plastic continues to harm the wildlife and eventually even humans through food chains. This is without taking to account the emissions formed during its production.

These were the concerns of the Packomer’s founder who was bothered by seeing ice cream parlours in Uruguay give out plastic spoons of which the majority never made it to the recycling bin. The idea is to produce a caramel spoon with a rolled wafer handle which would perfectly accompany the dessert. The technology aspires to apply a combination of structural design and chemical technology to develop the necessary formula with desired functionality. Soon we could enjoy our sweet treats without harming the environment.
