Heating Hearts

Heating Hearts concentrate on designing and commercialization of heat pumps systems for heating water in residential buildings in the city of Huancayo.
Approximately 70% of homes in Huancayo use electric resistances to heat water, having a high expense for energy consumption. At peak times when the electricity demand is highest, there is a need for assistance from thermal power plants which cause the burning of fossil fuels. Nevertheless, the residents of Huancayo show interest in alternatives to these expensive and unsustainable practices.
Therefore, Heating Hearts turn to heat pumps. This innovation is highly efficient in terms of energy because it uses a renewable external energy source (air, water, etc.) and in this way, it offers a low cost and very reliable zero-emissions system. The project is intended to design a collective hot water production system that functions equally in all seasons of the year, that does not depend on the temperature of the environment and that is eco-friendly.
Heat pumps are not a new technology, they are used in other appliances such as air conditioning and refrigeration. Heating Hearts intend to apply this technology to heat water, having the air as the main source of energy (thermal energy contained in the air).
