In November Circular Influence hosted the DigiEduHack which is an EIT initiative under the European Commission's Digital Education Action Plan, led by EIT Climate-KIC.

The programme combines a series of online and offline idea-hackathons from all around the world, focusing on co-creating the future of education in the digital age. DigiEduHack is free, inclusive, sustainable, open to anyone worldwide: coders and non-coders, with no discrimination regarding gender, education level, or origin.

Circular Influence organised the DigiEduHack Mercosur (Argentina, Uruguay) & European event (Madrid, Spain & Geneva, Switzerland) on the 12th and 13th of November with the “Imagine the future of Education - Carbon-free mobilities and networking” challenge. The target of the challenge was to find new ways to transform students’ education experience. Solutions could be a new course, new classes, or new pedagogical activities offered to our students.

Circular Influence was eager to get the perspective of students, teachers, educators, researchers and innovators on how technology could be leveraged to lower barriers to students’ mobility across Mercosur and Europe through digital education programs and to increase students’ motivation for such mobilities.

Furthermore, participants reflected on an extended view on what 'mobility' means, and how to offer different forms of virtual mobilities. For instance, access to remote courses or working as distributed virtual teams across Mercosur and Europe.

The DigiEduHack initiative was organized by Circular Influence in Mercosur and Europe and coordinated by Finnish Aalto University. In addition, Circular Influence had a joint session with Oliver Janoschka, HFC Managing Director & Speaker at the DigiEduHack Berlin Main Stage.

For the organisation and implementation of this online hackathon, there were many activities involved, such as daily webinars, EduDigiHack websites for each location and a community platform. Our keynote speakers talked about topics such as:

  • Analysing extreme users to design services of disruptive innovation

  • Opportunities to reimagine an inclusive education: a look from 2030 agenda

  • Organise our ideas in order to communicate them: tips and tricks for efficient drafting and communication

  • Circular economies: digital strategies for a low-carbon mobility

  • Using analogies to innovate

The first edition of DigiEduHack hosted by Circular Influence welcomed 50 participants out of which our team of experts selected the best from each country as well as overall winners. The most innovative teams were presented with valuable prizes such as a membership at PMI or scholarships at various universities. More specifically, our overall winner claimed a scholarship for the executive preparation course for PMP or CAPM at UCEMA, Argentina.

  1. Remote Matter Labs - Argentina

  2. EDUCHAIN - Switzerland

  3. SYNNUP - Spain

  4. TECHNOLOGY TUTORS FOR CHILDREN - Uruguay

The team of Circular Influence was grateful to assist these novel thinkers along the journey. We are already eager to meet new teams at the second edition of DigiEduHack in 2021.
